After a spectacular weekend of rugby, the quality of the matches and the performance of the slightly smaller nations has taken the heat off a disappointing Opening Ceremony which was underlined by clumsy performers and obscure rugby reference. Now that the weekend has concluded, it’s important we take time now to regroup and take a step back and reflect on what unfolded over the past three days. A revamped version of the Weekly Rugby Drum, it’s time for the Rugby Drum’s World Cup Weekly Wash-up.
Obviously, due to the simply breathtaking performance from Japan on Saturday afternoon at a sun-soaked Brighton, our list is fairly Japan heavy.
