With a chance to top pool A in their final round-robin match against Wales, they’ll return to Twickenham on Saturday night with only one result in mind with the winner of Saturday’s night clash likely avoiding a tough quarter final against South Africa.
Many have already tagged them as strong favourites to overwhelm the Welsh particularly considering Wales’ injury count and their very good record against them. And if last week’s record-breaking performance against the English is anything to go by, the signs are there for lynchpins David Pocock and Bernard Foley to complete the mission on Saturday.
While it may be a little premature to say that the Wallabies can go onto win the World Cup after their win against the hosts on Saturday, the reality is that they laid down the markers that may very well earn them a third Rugby World Cup.
