Andy Goode calls time on his career

LONDON – Injuries have forced former England fly-half Andy Goode to call time on his career after joining London Irish in the summer.

The 35 year old came to the decision following consultations with the club’s medical staff as well as his own physician.

The second highest point scorer in Premiership history, Goode played in the Leicester side that won four successive Premiership titles and two European Cups. He also played for Saracens and Worcester and notched up 17 tests for England.

Goode said that he was proud of his achievements for each club.

“I can honestly say I’ve loved playing for every team and I feel immensely proud to have achieved what I have at each club,” he said.

“I’m really disappointed I can’t continue my career at London Irish and I’ve really enjoyed my short period with them.”

Goode also had stints with French Top 14 side Brive as well as the Sharks in the Southern Hemisphere’s Super Rugby competition.
