Cook Cup returns to Australia

Cook Cup 2

LONDON – England will return down under in June 2016 to play the first ever three test series against the Wallabies which will feature matches in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

While the most recent Australian version of the Cook Cup took place in 2010, this will be the first time the Cook Cup will be contested over three test matches on June 11, 18 and 25 at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, Sydney’s Allianz Stadium and Melbourne’s AAMI Stadium which will host it’s first ever test match.

The last time a travelling English team played consecutive tests in Australia as a part of the Cook Cup was 2010 with the series ending up level with England winning the first clash in Perth 27-17 before falling short at ANZ Stadium in Sydney 21-20.

And while their results at grounds in Sydney are very respectable, their last appearances in Melbourne and Brisbane are less-so with the matches culminating in a 25-6 loss in 1997 and a crushing 51-15 defeat in 2004 respectively.
