Piutau signs for Wasps on 6 month contract

Charles Piutau against Wales

LONDON – Ulster-bound Charles Piutau has signed a six month contract with Aviva Premiership side Wasps after being omitted from the All Blacks Rugby World Cup squad.

Ulster were not able to fit Piutau in the current roster as their foreign allocation is full however, Piutau will play with Wasps until he joins the Pro12 club later in 2016.

The 23 year old scored four tries in 17 appearances for the All Blacks and was tipped to re-sign with New Zealand Rugby and provincial club the Blues until the surprising recruitment announcement from Ulster in April.

Many also suggested that he would be selected for New Zealand’s Rugby World Cup squad before being omitted last week.

Making his test debut against France in 2013, Piutau will add significant depth to the Wasps backline as they cope with the absence of their World Cup stars.
