Scotland’s Weir ruled out of the 6 Nations

LONDON – Scotland have lost first choice pivot Duncan Weird for the entire 2015 6 Nations after with the 23 year old set to undergo surgery on his arm.

Weir picked up the injury for his club side Glasgow on Boxing Day and the full extent of the injury was realised after undergoing extensive examination.

It seems to be another injury to add to the list of Scotland Coach Vern Cotter’s who is counting the toll after a heavy festive period. Flanker Rob Harley suffered a knee injury in the same match and Cotter is waiting to hear of the outcome of Harley’s scans.

In addition, Scotland has been dealt the significant blow of losing Edinburgh’s Grant Gilchrist after the lock suffered a broken arm. Gilchrist was named as captain of the national team back in the autumn with many suggesting he was the leader to take Scotland to the World Cup later this year.
