Scottish take revenge on hapless Italians

Scotland

LONDON – Scotland has eased to a record 48-7 win over a very disappointing Italian side at Murrayfield on Saturday.

The home side were assured in defence and aggressive in attack as they looked to register a convincing performance in their penultimate Rugby World Cup warm-up game.

As good as the home side were, the Italians were poor as they constantly lacked composure in their own half as well as exhibited extremely poor ball handling and retention. While they looked to get into the match through the use of their rolling maul, evoking memories of the 6 Nations at the beginning of the year, the visitors couldn’t string together enough phases nor get enough solid ball in possession.

With the Scots registering six tries in their most comprehensive victory in some time, Coach Vern Cotter will be impressed that his team has it in them to put this kind of performance in. But at the same time, he’ll be equally as frustrated that they can’t consistently produce a solid standard of rugby, especially after their escape in Turin last week.

Cotter will be looking for more of the same from Scotland when they take on France in their final warm-up game in Paris next Saturday
