Historic rugby match set for Superdome

LONDON – New Zealand Super Rugby team the Crusaders will take on the London-based Aviva Premiership side Saracens in the inaugural Hemispheres Cup in New Orleans

The match has been organised by RugbyLaw from the USA and will take place on August 1. Due to the timing of the event, between the Super Rugby season and the ITM season, a Crusaders Knights side will travel to the US and will consist primarily of players based in Christchurch.

The timing of the match before the Rugby World Cup also means that none of either side’s stars will be available

In an attempt to raise the profile of rugby union in US, the event will take place at the Superdome in New Orleans, the same stadium that the XLVII Superbowl was played at which holds a capacity of 75,000 people
