Rugby World mourns Jerry Collins

Jerry Collins

LONDON – The Rugby World is mourning former Osprey, Narbonne, Hurricane and All Back hitman Jerry Collins his partner Alana who died in a tragic car crash in France on Friday.

Reports have suggested that a bus collided with Collins’ car and that their 2 month old daughter is in hospital in a serious condition.

Just 34 years of age, Jerry Collins made his professional rugby debut in 1999 for the Wellington Lions before earning 85 caps for the Wellington Hurricanes Super Rugby franchise and 48 appearances in the All Black jersey.

Gaining an international reputation for his bone crunching hits, Collins quickly became one of the most feared players of the professional era.

Leaving for France in the prime of his career after the All Blacks’ 2007 Rugby World Cup campaign, the Samoan-born flanker enjoyed a prosperous time in the Northern Hemisphere.
