Waratahs sign troubled All Black

Guildford

SYDNEY – The New South Wales Waratahs have signed former All Black winger Zac Guildford on a 10 month contract to play for the franchise in the 2016 Super Rugby season.

Making 11 appearances for the All Blacks in between 2009 and 2012, Guildford has very much earned the ‘bad boy’ tag after a number of misdemeanours over the past five years.

Part of the 2011 Rugby World Cup winning team, Guildford has a history of alcohol-related issues spanning from accusations of assault to naked bar incidents.

Agreeing to a two year contract for French powerhouse Clermont Auvergne, Guildford returned home to New Zealand after just one season due to personal reasons.

Guildford will join former Crusaders’ Assistant Coach Daryl Gibson who is the Waratahs’ backs coach and he will provide much needed depth in the Waratahs’ outside backs who will lose Adam Ashley-Cooper, Peter Betham and Taqele Naiyaravoro to European clubs after the Rugby World Cup.
